During India's Partition, the Khera family migrated from what is now Pakistan to settle in Panipat, Haryana. Anand Sagar Khera, an artist, opened a small carpet weaving workshop, employing skilled weavers to make hand knotted carpets. These carpets were sold from a small retail store at the workshop, beginning a sixty year long love affair with handloom rug weaving.
